Modem Installation

Alcatel Speed Touch Home

There are four ports and a power supply socket at the back of the Speed Touch Home modem (see figure).

LINE Telephone line connection or connection to the central splitter
ATMF-25 Connection to computer with ATMF-25 interface (this port is not available in some versions)
Ethernet Port Ethernet Port Connection to computer with Ethernet interface
Power Socket Power Socket Connection to power supply
Power Switch Power Switch To switch the modem on and off

The connection of the modem should be done as shown in the figure below.

The following connections have to take place:
1. The Line input of the modem has to be connected to the telephone socket or the central splitter
2. The Ethernet Port (10BaseT) has to be connected to the Ethernet (10BaseT) interface of the computer.
3. The power supply has to be connected to the power socket of the modem.

LED Indicators
The LED indicators at the front of the Speed Touch home modem have the following functions as shown in the table below.

Green
If the LED is flashing it means that there is traffic between the modem and the Ethernet interface of the computer. If the LED is off, means that the connection is inactive.
Line TX
Green
If the LED is flashing it means that there is the modem is transmitting traffic to the telephone line. If the LED is off, means that no transmission takes place.
Line RX
Green
If the LED is flashing it means that there is the modem is receiving traffic to the telephone line. If the LED is off, means that no reception takes place.
Sync
Green
Sync As soon as the modem is switched on this LED flashes. When the modem is synchronized with the ADSL equipment at the telephone exchange this LED will stop flashing.
PWR/Alarm
Red
If this LED is flashing it means that the modem is doing a self-check. When it stops flashing but remains Red means that there was something wrong with self-check.
Green
