Modem Upgrade

1. If you face connection problems with some websites such as Hotmail, eBay or with some applications such as the MSN Messenger, check whether the type of your modem is "ECI B-FOCUS 342". The modem’s type is written at the bottom of the modem.
2. In this case, you will have to upgrade your modem by following the procedure written below, given that you are a subscriber to i-choice 256 or i-choice 512 or  i-choice1000 (If you are a subscriber to i-choice Business or BusinessLite, you won’t be able to follow this procedure). 

Follow the procedure written below, given that you have first identified whether the telephone connection on which i-choice is connected is Analogue (pots line) or ISDN.

If you telephone connection is Analogue (POTs line):

A.Programme Download from the Internet

Download (double click on the archive) and save on your PC the 4 programmes included in the zipped file "B-FOCUS 342+POTS.zip":

1. the "B342p.CyTA.360A.050826a2.firmware.upgrade" software
2. the "ECI_UpgradeWizard_1.01.exe" application
3. the "ECI_fw.configuration settings" file
4. the "UpgradeModem.vbe" archive, for the initiation of the installation process.

Proceed with the modem upgrade procedure using the new software, as described in Stage B.

B. Modem Upgrade Procedure

Run the archive "UpgradeModem.vbe", already downloaded on your PC by double clicking on the specific archive.

• The window "DSL Modem ECI B-Focus 342+ Upgrade Procedure" will appear. Press "OK"
• The window "upgrade wizard" will appear. Select "Ready" and at the window that follows, select "Yes"
• At this point the upgrade procedure will begin and the word "upgrading" will appear
• Wait for a while and the window "can't connect to the router" will appear. Press "OK"
•  Wait for a while and the window "Upgrade Successful" will appear. Press "OK". The modem has now been upgraded
• Turn off and then turn on the modem, by pressing the "ON/OFF" black key found at the back side of the modem.

At this point your modem has been upgraded and you can use all the services and applications normally.

If your telephone connection is ISDN:

A. Programme Download from the internet

Download (double click on the archive) and save the 4 programmes included in the zipped file "B-FOCUS 342+ISDN.zip":

1. the new software
2. the "ECI_UpgradeWizard_1.01.exe" application
3. the "ECI_fw.ini" file
4. the "UpgradeModem.vbe" archive, for the initiation of the installation process.

Follow Stage B as described above (Stage B applies for both Analogue and ISDN telephone connections).
