Important note for Cisco 677i users
The following instructions apply to the Cisco 677i modem users
(who connect the modem to their PC via an Ethernet card).
The i- choice users who
1. use one i- choice connection
to connect more than one computers in rotation (eg disconnect their desktop and
connect a laptop)
or
2. connect one PC to two or more connections (e.g. connect
with the same laptop at work and at home)
will have to perform release of IP address before he/she disconnects a PC from
the modem in order to ensure a smoother operation of the service.
The IP release procedure is explained below.
How is release of IP address performed for Windows 95/98 & Millenium?
Before switching off the PC in order to disconnect it from the modem please do
the following actions:
A. Click on the Start button. Select Run from
the menu.
B. In the Run screen type winipcfg and
then click OK .

C. Select the Ethernet card with which you are connected to
the modem .

D. Then press Release . The IP address will
be zeroed.

You can now Shut Down your computer.
How is release of IP address performed for Windows 2000/ÍÔ?
For Windows 2000 and ÍÔ, the user should open MSDos Prompt and write the following
commands:
C:>ipconfig (to view the IP address)
C:>ipconfig /release (to release the ÉÑ address)
